Hi! I'm Carissa, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Appleton, Wisconsin area; it's nice to "meet" you! My love for working with and helping others began in high school. Through personal experience, I chose a path of psychology to help individuals experiencing mental health difficulties and challenges. I have worked in various settings, including as an in-home ABA Therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as a case manager for the chronically homeless population, and most recently as a Psychotherapist in an outpatient clinic setting.
I developed Be Your Better Self, LLC after using this phrase as a personal mantra for growth in my own life and am excited to share this mantra with you to help you grow in the ways you want and/or need in your own life. I enjoy working with kids and families and have recently taken a special interest working with women who are in a transitional phase of their life, whether that be the growing pains of young adulthood, motherhood, or any other transition you may be going through in your life.
According to the American Psychological Association, “Psychologists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives.” Through the use of various psychotherapy methods, holistic treatment modalities, and collaborative treatment measures, my clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with many of life’s various obstacles. My therapy sessions are designed to empower you to tell your story, in a safe and nurturing environment, and to identify the tools you need to move towards a place of growth and healing.
If you’re looking for Individual Therapy sessions with someone who offers a nurturing and supportive environment to empower you towards a place of growth and healing, then you’ve come to the right place. I guide and support my clients every step of the way and implement various methods to help them develop new attitudes towards all of life’s most complex matters.
"Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.”
